Chapters 21-22 Summary

Decker decides that he and Skink should move on. Decker rents a car and they get on the road; however, within a few minutes Skink notices they are being followed. Decker pulls over when he recognizes Garcia. Decker believes Garcia is going to arrest him but discovers that Garcia wants to help him. Garcia begins the long drive to Harney and listens to Decker tell his story. At Lunker Lakes, Weeb has just learned that the bass he had stocked in the canals are all dying. The hydrologist tells him that the lakes were built on an old landfill and the water is contaminated. Weeb is becoming desperate. The condos at Lunker Lake are not selling fast enough. Weeb needs money to help recover some of what he is losing in the Lunker Lake investment. Weeb remembers when he first started...
