Summary

In Chapter 7, Aiko summons Kiku to meet up because she answered No-No, and as such, she will be transferred to Tule Lake presumably so she will not spread her attitude to others. Kiku feels guilty for answering Yes-Yes out of fear, but Aiko maintains that the situation is terrifying and that Kiku is not to blame. Aiko tells Kiku to keep drawing because it will help keep the memory of what is happening alive. Through a series of pictures, Aiko leaves, men dig, people, including Ernestina, play music, while Kiku dances with May before everybody has to leave because it is 9:00 p.m. Kiku and May kiss. A gun is shot in the night.
