Summary

Greg writes in his Thursday entry that even though the play was coming up in just a few days, the students still didn’t know their lines and Mrs. Norton kept adding scenes and lines. To Greg’s dismay Mrs. Norton had even come up with a song for the trees to sing. He was happy only because he believed that Rodrick wouldn’t be attending to watch the play because it would be a semiformal occasion. In Greg’s favor, he writes that one of the other boys assigned to play a tree fell and chipped a tooth because he couldn’t use his arms to break his fall. Because of that injury, the teacher had allowed armholes to be cut into the tree costumes.
