Lashington & Wiis

Lashington & Wiis is the primary setting for the short story. The university is located in an unidentified southern town. Magna accepts a position teaching English here shortly after completing her degree in the West Coast. She regrets the decision, as the culture at Lashington & Wiis is toxic and racist. For a time, she is able to withstand the park environment because she has Jamal’s company and comfort. After he leaves, Magna’s desperation to escape the place returns and amplifies.
