Summary

A few weeks prior to the death of the Harmons, Eunice attended church and took notice of Marian and Marva. Eunice enlisted Marian to help “convert” La’Roy, and Marian told her to bring La’Roy to her house the next Saturday. After Eunice dropped La’Roy off, she went home, and was surprised to find him returned to the house earlier than expected by a schoolteacher, Murphy Daniels, and accompanied by two boys, Terrance and Troy Russet, who often bullied La’Roy for his sexuality. La’Roy stormed to his room and angrily explained to Eunice that Marian had ordered Terrance and Troy to beat him up. When they refused, Marian called all of them a number of homophobic slurs. Eunice begged the Russets’ mother, Savannah, not to speak to Marva Harmon, her best friend, about what had happened between La’Roy...
