Chapters 61-66 Summary

In chapter sixty-one, Hazael and Liraz wonder how Akiva can reach the emperor to kill him even as security has been tightened . They are concerned that Japheth, Joram's son, will simply take over if they kill the emperor without making it known that seraph were the assassins. They also realize that all of the Misbegotten will be blamed and killed for Joram's death. Rumor is that the emperor is planning a full invasion. Akiva believes that something even more significant is about to happen in the empire from all of rumors floating around. Liraz gives him a scroll. It is from the emperor, summoning Akiva to make an appearance before him.
