Summary

Chapter 13 is titled “Not Easily Forgotten.” The chapter opens with a statement from another philanthropist who says Dava “will not be easily forgotten” (190). Kali calls Mattius and Lucy. She says she knows about their illegal activities. Lucy says they needed money and did not want it to seem they were asking Kali for help. Kali realizes that she has always been the outsider in that relationship. She says she is not willing to continue the relationship, at least while they have this “part-time job.” They ask to talk again but Kali does not commit. Arvie is almost drunk, and Kali makes him a sandwich to sober up. Arvie makes a comment indicating he and Vincent are having problems. The verse Tom left out of the Dava song refers to a scar that makes the Shastri children sure Tom and Dava had an affair...
