Summary

Chapter 10 is titled “Owen.” Owen hates that he has lied to Auburn, and he does not want to lie again. They agree not to talk about where Owen is moving or why Auburn moved to Texas. They spend a lot at Target. Owen lets her buy whatever she wants because he wants her to be happy this weekend. He then says he wants to buy her a birthday gift. She does not object as most girls would but is very excited. Owen recalls a game he once played with his father in which Owen and his brother chose an aisle number and shelf number. They could choose anything they wanted from there. Auburn is excited as she picks and more so when she discovers tents on that aisle. She quickly chooses, then exchanges it because “Blue is his favorite color” (136). Owen fights down...
