Summary

Chapter 4 is titled “Owen.” Owen hopes that he will get to know Auburn better during their 15-block walk. He asks why she moved to Texas. She seems alarmed and says she never said she moved here. Owen knows he cannot tell her the truth now because “it would make me look like I've been hiding something from her for the majority of the night. I have, but it's too late for me to admit that now” (61). He cites her accent as proof. He asks if she has a boyfriend. He is relieved when she does not.
