Summary

Chapter 21. Burning Gold

Will and Tessa rush to the room, and Will tells them that they cannot use their Shadowhunter weapons on these automatons. Will urges Tessa to stay out of the way, leaving her with Magnus, as he rushes to help Cecily. One of the Silent Brothers joins Will and Cecily. As he does, Will is shocked to realize that this Silent Brother is Jem, his former parabatai. Will has many questions, but there are too many automatons for them to battle. Magnus is distracted. When he moves away from Tessa, she is grabbed by the automaton Mortmain showed her the day before, Armaros. Armaros takes her into a small alcove where her friends cannot see her.

As Cecily continues to fight, she sees Charlotte sitting on the floor beside Henry with only Bridget to keep the automatons from them...
