Chapters 16 and 17 Summary

When Henry gets to his car, he notices that the ceiling light is off, thinking it must be burnt out. He taps the three stage button two times, and it comes on. The only conclusion he can draw is that someone has been in his car. A quick check reveals nothing is missing, and Henry logically concludes it has been searched, not broken into. He understands with sudden clarity why Renner hadn't offered him a lift back to his car. As he is leaving, he sees them bringing Lilly's mattress out, wrapped in plastic to preserve any evidence and sees Renner looking at him. Ten minutes later, he is back at his apartment, and calling Robin to warn her. He gets her machine and begins to leave a message but is cut off before he can finish explaining. He calls back...
