Chapters 5-8 Summary

In chapter 5, Coyote Runs thinks of the white school he was forced to attend for a time in Alamogordo as they pass the city. Coyote Runs attended the school with his friend, Magpie, who is also on this raid.

In chapter 6, Brennan is annoyed as he finds himself riding in a van with a group of younger kids who seem intent on hurting one another. Brennan cannot figure out why he agreed to this. Bill is nice enough, but the kids were about to drive him insane. They stop at a canyon about sixty miles outside of El Paso and hike into its depths to a place Bill knows. When they arrive, Brennan is so tired of the kids he is ready to explode.
