Summary

Chapter 6, which returns to 1973, reports that in the next game, the Giants’ pitcher threw a ball at Joe, nearly hitting in his shoulder. Joe did not retaliate because he was a rookie and had not yet earned that right. His brother, Red, had warned him that the pitchers would start throwing at him. Joe was finally gotten out on his sixteenth time at bat. After the game, Joe was assigned a jersey with a new number, 15, for the number of consecutive hits he had made.

As Warren prepared to pitch at his next game, a preparation that included drinking a banana milkshake he had made himself, He congratulated Paul on making the All-Star Team.
