Forms of Bullying
Preller uses Floyd's and Scofield’s lectures to incorporate facts about the forms of bullying into his novel. Floyd’s lecture and the exercises through which he leads his students detail the facts about bullying. Scofield follows up on these details with real-life examples of how students should think for themselves in dealing with situations in which they believe others may be harmed.
Floyd details the facts of bullying with his students in his lecture. One of the first topics he addresses is giving a formal definition of bullying: “Bullying is whenever someone uses his or her power unfairly or repeatedly to hurt someone” (106). He goes on to say that there are four different types of bullying. These include verbal, physical, intimidation, and indirect bullying.
