Summary

In the small town of Falls Landing, Florida, a young girl named Sammy Liu-Lou goes missing without a trace. The various parents in the community initiate a frantic search for her, while a group of girls slightly younger than Sammy band together and begin monitoring the situation with the fervor of a fanbase. These girls—Britney, Hazel, Isabel, Jody, and Leila, along with their male friend Christian—begin wandering around the town to try and keep track of the movements of the adults as they search for Sammy. None of the younger children seem aware of the fact that Sammy could be in trouble; they reject the idea so totally that it strikes them as amusing that the adults are convinced she is dead.
