Summary

Prologue

The story begins with Jade Sperry looking out her office window. Outside there are skyscrapers and the hustle and bustle of the New York City streets. New York is a far cry from Palmetto, South Carolina, where Jade grew up. It had been many years since Jade had been in Palmetto, but the time had come for Jade to return to her hometown. When Jade returned, she would finally get her revenge.

Chapter 1

The story begins in 1975 in Palmetto, South Carolina. Neal Patchett, Hutch Jolly, and Lamar Griffith are sitting at the Dairy Barn talking about Neal’s experiences with prostitutes. The boys joke with each other. Neal teases Lamar for being a coward. The boys are bored. Having exhausted all other options for the night, they have ended up at the Dairy Barn hoping something interesting would happen.
