Vivian

Vivian is the main character of the story. She is a sixteen-year-old werewolf who is currently living in the suburbs of a city in Maryland. Her old home in West Virginia, where she lived with her parents and the rest of her werewolf pack, was destroyed in a fire set by humans. This was retaliation for the death of two humans at the hands of werewolves. Vivian's father, who had been the leader of the pack, died in the fire. Now Vivian lives with her mother, and the pack is dispersed in different houses in the city. The pack is in turmoil without a leader to control it; it feels disjointed and some of the members are behaving very wildly.
