Summary

In “War,” a week after Bucky left, Norma Jeane was hired at Radio Plane Aircraft and rented a furnished room. Even though she refused to live with Bucky’s parents, she still wore his rings because she intended to remain faithful. She believed, however, that if he had truly loved her he would not have left her. One day as she was working, Norma Jeane looked up to see a man she believed was the Dark Prince with a camera in his hands.

“Pinup 1945” describes the look on Bucky’s face when he sees Norma Jean’s picture in the December 1944 issue of Stars and Stripes. Elsie saw the photo and noted it looked as if whoever was holding the camera was Norma Jeane’s best friend.
