Summary

Part Five is called “Reckoning”. It begins from the perspective of Ombir who attends Jolly’s house along with Bhim Sain. They apologize to Saluja, a business associate of Jolly, for the attack on Dharam Bir. Saluja promises that he will order Dharam Bir not to go after them when he gets out of hospital. Ombir and Bhim Sain leave. Ombir decides it’s time they did what they should have done in the first place and investigate the murder of Bachni, the woman whose body they found in the canal. They return together to the canal to see if it’s still possible to locate the body. They find Bachni’s body. They deduce that she was killed somewhere else and dragged through some bushes to the canal. They suspect that whoever killed Bachni knew enough about Chand’s family to expect that...
