Summary
Part Four is called “Inquiries”. Rabia and Badshah Miyan return to Delhi together after visiting Chand for Munia’s funeral. They overhear Hindu men at a gas station discussing Munia’s murder and blaming it on Muslims. Later, Badshah Miyan asks Rabia whether she, her son Arshad, and her daughter-in-law Sanam are planning to leave India because of the increasing anti-Muslim sentiment. Rabia replies that she has no wish to leave Delhi and Badshah Miyan urges her to reconsider. Rabia reminisced about Arshad and Sanam meeting for the first time at Bright Dairy, where they lived. Sanam’s father Azizbhai ran a library. Chand and Badshah Miyan attended the wedding of Arshad and Sanam but it was marred by anti-Muslim sentiment in Bright Dairy.
