Dave Robicheaux

Dave Robicheaux is an ex-cop who has his own business near his home in New Iberia, Louisiana. Dave grew up in Louisiana and is Cajun, bringing to the story all the culture that this heritage implies. Dave is also a new widower. Dave's wife was murdered when two men broke into their house while she was sleeping and shot her in the bed they shared. Dave is still suffering intense grief from this event and often dreams about his wife in which they have conversations about the events in his life. Dave's wife often encourages Dave to keep fighting to stay sober and to keep focused on their daughter, Alafair. Dave listens to his wife and does try to make her proud even though his instincts often encourage him to fall back into the alcohol addiction that once nearly ruined his life.
