Summary

The American man who stepped out from behind the plane frightened Mira. She maintained that she was Sarah Foster, a production assistant scouting the property for a movie and stated that she had clearance from the owner, Owen Darvish. Mira swore that she was only taking photos, but the man asked to see her camera and said she was lying - the camera was broken. After she refused, the man called her by name, scaring her.

Mira explained that she was an activist gardener who planted crops on other people’s properties without them knowing and wanted to plant on Darvish’s farm while it was empty. Mira then fled, cursing herself for revealing everything while she knew nothing about him.

Through an internet search, Mira discovered that the man was Robert Lemoine, “serial entrepreneur, a venture capitalist, and, apparently, a billionaire” (74). He...
