Daphne Berg

Daphne Berg is the heroine of the novel. She is the daughter of Jerry and Judy Berg. Daphne’s parents love her and support her even though she is overweight. When Daphne is in the sixth grade, she begins school at Lathrop School, the private school owned by Drue’s family. Daphne is immediately mesmerized by beautiful Drue. She is willing to do whatever Drue wants just to be her friend. Darshi, another girl in the sixth grade, tries to warn Daphne that Drue will use her and then discard her, but Daphne chooses not to listen.
