Lena Duchannes

A fifteen-year-old girl who is a member of a family of Casters, she is facing her sixteenth birthday and the possibility that she will be claimed as a dark Caster. Lena wants more than anything else to simply be a normal girl living the life of a normal teenager. The problem is that she isn't normal. She is a "Natural" and can control elements of nature. Very early in the story, she creates a storm that blows out the windows of her English classroom. Lena lives with her uncle, Macon Ravenwood, and faces her sixteenth birthday without all the knowledge she needs to make an informed decision. She has typical human emotions. When she discovers that Macon has hidden things from her, she's furious but when Macon dies, she greatly regrets her harsh words and fears that he may never know how much she really loved him...
