Archdeacon Grantly

Archdeacon Grantly is the son of the previous Bishop of Barchester, and was originally promised the position of Bishop. He is a man of strong opinions who is unable to admit when he is wrong. His wife Susan is the daughter of Dr. Harding and the sister of Eleanor Bold. He is the leader of the conservative clergy in Barchester and has developed his religious differences with Mr. Slope into a personal battle for domination.
