Chapters 5-6 Summary

Myron meets his partner Win at the Merion clubhouse. They order iced teas. Myron tells Win that he's helping investigate the kidnapping of Jack Coldren's son. Since Linda Coldren is Win's cousin, the niece of his estranged mother, Win will not help. Myron asks about the empty seats at the table, and Win says he has a potential client coming, Tad Crispin, a promising young golfer. Tad was the favorite to win before Jack Coldren's initial success at the Open. Tad doesn't believe he needs an agent but wants to hire Win as a financial adviser.

Myron asks Win about Jack, and Win explains that Jack blames his caddy for spoiling his chances at the last U.S. Open he almost won, over twenty years ago. Win doesn't want to talk about Jack, though, and loud, energetic Norm Zuckerman joins them...
