Summary

The novel begins with Yun clawing at his own neck to release himself from the pain of poisoning. The pain stops and Yun looks around to figure out where he is. He walks around a forest he does not recognize and says the name “Jianzhu”, the name of the man who poisoned him, aloud. Yun notices a pair of eyes glaring at him and recognizes them as belonging to the spirit Father Glowworm. Yun now realizes he is in the spirit world. Yun tells the spirit his name and the spirit tells him he can create a passage to the human realm but he will not do so. The spirit then attacks Yun. In
