Kyoshi

Kyoshi is the titular character and protagonist of The Rise of Kyoshi. She was born to Jesa and Hark, a former air nomad and Earth kingdom actor who gave up their "honest" lives in favour of becoming member of the daofei, organized crime, even starting their own gang: the Flying Opera Company. When Kyoshi was a young child, they abandoned her in Yokoya Port, a trauma Kyoshi is forced to reckon with throughout the novel. She meets Jianzhu and Kelsang when they come to administer the Avatar test, and Kelsang winds up taking her in as an adoptive daughter of sorts, later arranging for her to have a job at the Avatar Mansion. Kyoshi endures bullying and suspicion from the people of Yokoya.
