Chapter 10 Summary

Since she knows that she can control her Gift by being exhausted, Talia keeps herself very busy. Talia, Kris, the Companions, and the chirras work hard every day to clear the path, and Kris drills Talia repeatedly until Grounding and Centering become reflexive. Though her shielding begins to return, it is very thin. About a month after reaching the Waystation, they finally dig their way to the road which is as drift-covered as the path. Kris is bewildered since he never contemplated such a thing, and Talia tries to stay calm despite feeling that she is being watched because she believes the feeling originates in her mind. When Kris feels the same, he strikes out at Talia, causing her to lose control of her emotions, but she regains control when she feels the power ready to strike her down. Rolan stands beside Talia...
