Summary

In Chapter 30, last October, Joy and Savannah are having lunch after a shopping spree. Joy had loved shopping with her mother. Her own daughters do not like shopping.

Savannah always wears a necklace with a key on it. Savannah's facial expression hardens when Joy mentions it. Then, Savannah says that it is symbolic of doors opening to a brighter future. They talk about doors opening for Savannah. The events of the day make Joy grieve her mother who has been dead for over 20 years. Joy finds her feeling strange because her mother had not been a very good mother or grandmother.

Joy says that she will buy Savannah a new necklace. She says Savannah deserves it for all of the work she does around the house. Brooke has told Joy that if she wants to hire Savannah, she should do it legally. Joy...
