Summary

In Chapter 7, Fabiola’s cousins take her out to a local club on a Saturday night. There, they meet Donna’s boyfriend Dray (short for Drayton) and Dray’s friend Kasim. Fabiola recognizes Dray as the boy who hit the old man across the street, and she recognizes Kasim as the boy who intervened. Dray wears an eye patch, and Fabiola deduces from his demeanor that there is something malevolent about him. However, she talks to Kasim and finds him rather friendly. Later, Dray drives Donna and Fabiola home, and Fabiola listens to a song that the old man across the street (who is called “Bad Leg”) is singing.

In Chapter 8, Fabiola asks Chantal and Pri if Dray beats Donna. Fabiola says that Bad Leg’s song seemed to imply so. Pri avoids the question and just says that Bad Leg is a crazy...
