Summary

Maddie picks through abandoned construction sites around the neighborhood to look for forgotten tools or useful items. When she sees a house that reminds her of life before everybody fled the town, she is overcome with rage and throws a rock through the window, shattering it. As she investigates another house and tries to find something to scavenge, a storm brews. She realizes too late that it is the start of a tornado. Maddie runs with George back to their house. Maddie barely makes it and injures herself before passing out.
