Legacy

There is a very strong theme of family and personal legacy as Lucien and Sylvie try to maintain their kin’s inheritance. However, characters like Byron and Rosalie are searching for a new life away from what the farm can offer as they do not fit what their family wants them to be. This creates direct conflicts as everyone strives to achieve their own goals while trying to respect the family’s wishes.

Sylvie’s obsession with maintaining the plantation and passing it on to the most worthy of her kin shows what legacy means to her.
