Chapter 56, Catelyn Summary

Catelyn Stark is eating with Brienne. The rest of the castle is celebrating Edmure Stark and Robb Stark's victories, but Catelyn is distraught because of Bran and Rickon Stark's deaths. She tells Brienne about their deaths, and how she wants her daughters back. She asks Brienne to go and question Jaime Lannister with her that night. She has wine sent to Jaime in the dungeon and goes to see her father, Lord Hoster. He is asleep, but she sits and talks to him for a while. Catelyn and Brienne go to the dungeon to see Jaime. Jaime hasn't drunk the wine, fearing it was poisoned. He needles Catelyn until she is about to leave, then he relents. He agrees to answer her questions if she gives him information.
