Summary

In Chapter 5, the teens depart the area, along with Jack, Shel, and Burl. They drive in cars, some of which now contain the boxes in which Jack has stored animals. They are driving towards a house owned by Juicy’s parents, but fallen trees block the road. Burl suggests a different destination that is more inland, further from the ocean. The destination is a farm owned by a wealthy woman. Burl does maintenance work for her, and he says that she is currently in New York City, not at the farm. They arrive at the farm, which has some animals such as sheep and cows. Burl suggests that they sleep in the barn. On Instagram, Evie sees that James has posted pictures from the ocean rescue.
