A Children’s Bible is a novel by Lydia Millet. It follows a group of children and teenagers, whose parents have rented a vacation home. While the parents attempt to shed all elements of personal responsibility, the teenagers attempt to assert their own independence. Soon, the characters are tested by a series of dangerous challenges which parallel famous Bible stories. The novel explores themes of personal autonomy, religion, adversity, hope, and environmentalism.
