Monolith

The Monolith was once the name given to the black featureless object found floating above Jupiter's crater of Tycho. Its purpose is unknown, but it possess a number of incredible powers. Floyd refers to the structure as "Big Brother."

Discovery

Discovery is the original ship sent to Jupiter by the United States. It is abandoned and in an irregular orbit around Jupiter until Leonov intercepts it.

Leonov

Leonov is the Russian space shuttle launched to explore Jupiter.

Tsien is the name of the Chinese vessel sent to Jupiter. It is destroyed by an alien life-form on Europa.
