Marian R. Chertow

Marian R. Chertow contends in the following viewpoint that because of fears raised in the 1980s about an increasing amount of trash, measures were taken to avert a garbage crisis. According to Chertow, the solid waste industry began to develop more efficient and environmentally benign methods of disposing of waste. Marian R. Chertow is director of the Industrial Environmental Management Program at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. In 2000 the EPA updated its analysis of municipal solid waste generation, recycling, and disposal. The EPA found that waste generation was increasing once again.
