Lesson 1 (from Part One, Triplicate, Chapters 1 - 4)

Objective

Chapters 1-3 introduce the reader to three very different characters: Connor, Risa and Lev. Each character has their own personality and set of circumstances. This lesson will discuss character development.

Lesson

Class Discussion: As a class, discuss the three main characters of the book. What are their goals in life? What motivates them? What has happened that has conflicted with their goals/desires? Which character is the hero of the book? Can you make any predictions about what might happen to each of these characters as the book progresses?

Individual Assignment: Create a chart comparing and contrasting two of the main characters from the book. Connor, Lev or Risa. Use the chart to show how they are similar and how they are different. At the bottom of the chart, write some conflicts which are likely to occur between the two characters.
