1. How is Landor innundated by people from his past in "Last Testament of Gus Landor"?

Landor thinks he will be dead within four hours. He is hallucinating that people he has known in the past are joining him. There is a Hudson Park alderman by the hearth; next to him, is his wife; and watching her is his old Newfoundland retriever. Down the hall, he sees his mother, who has never been in this house and who died before he was 12, ironing his Sunday suit. None of his visitors say anything to the others. One man, Claudius Foot, who Landor arrest 15 years ago for robbing the Rochester mail, has been talking and talking.

2. How was Landor summoned to West Point in Chapter 1?

Landor returns home from his usual walk. When he gets to his house, he finds in the piazza a phaeton with a black bay harnessed to it. On the top of the coach is a young artilleryman. Landor is greeted by an officer who says he is Lieutenant Meadows. The lieutenant tells Landor that West Point Superintendent Thayer requests an audience with him.
