The author provides some information on Cleopatra's life prior to her becoming Queen of Egypt. The objective of this lesson is to learn more about Cleopatra about a girl and young woman before becoming Queen of Egypt.

Lesson

Lead the class in a discussion about Cleopatra. What did the students know about Cleopatra before reading this book? What do they know about Cleopatra now? Why was Cleopatra destined for greatness? What were Cleopatra's character traits that would make her a great woman? Do the students think Cleopatra was a great visionary, leader, or both?

Divide the class into small groups and have them research more about Cleopatra's life prior to her becoming the Queen of Egypt. Have them prepare PowerPoint presentations to be shared with the rest of the class to compare and contrast information discovered by the various groups.
