Frenchie

This character narrates the bulk of the novel The Marrow Thieves. This character is 16 years old at the time when the narrative takes place. This character is separated first from his parents and then from his brother as a result of the Nish peoples' marrow being harvested by the dominant culture, causing this character to seek out the found family featured throughout the rest of the novel.

Minerva

This character is the oldest member of the group featured at the center of the narrative. This character is the only one in the group who retains knowledge of her native language and she does her best to pass on the knowledge she possesses to members of the younger generations. This character is wise, resourceful and proud, as evidenced when the other members of the group discover in her absence that she had carefully saved two dozen tin can lids...
