Poem Presentation

Have each student select a poem that they feel accurately portrays an incident, theme, or moment in the text. Have each student present their selection to the class.

Story Collage

Have each student construct a collage about one of the stories in the book. Display them and have the other students guess which story each of the collages is describing.

Hang Man

Choose an author, title, or person from the book (e.g. "The Rotifer" or "Nabokov") and use it to play "Hang Man."

Wild Plums

Have volunteers bring in wild plums to share and eat with the class.

Examine the Rotifer

Borrow a microscope from one of the science labs and let each student take a look at a rotifer.

Poem Exercise

Have each student choose a person and event from the story and write a poem about the event in their chosen person's voice...
