"Second Foundation" is written by Isaac Asimov, an American author famous for his works of science fiction. The objective of this lesson is to discuss relevant author biographical information concerning the novel.

Lesson

1) In-Class Report: Have students work both in the classroom and in the library to create a short biographical report about Isaac Asimov. Students should cover topics such as Asimov's cultural background, career as a professor, and interest in science fiction.

2) Further Research: Have students research the history of the novel working in groups. When was "Second Foundation" written? What point was Asimov in his career? What was the inspiration from Asimov's life to create this novel?

3) Class Discussion: Review with the class a short biography of Isaac Asimov. Discuss how the author's life might have influenced the novel. How did Asimov's childhood reading science fiction in his family's store influence the novel...
