Newspaper

Create a newspaper for a day during the 1927 floods. The newspaper must have a title, a date, a headline story, a picture for the story. It could then contain other things found in newspapers such as obituaries, ads, horoscopes, etc.

Skit

Have the students pick a major event from the novel and perform a skit. They should script it out, provide props and perform in front of the class.

Book Review

Students should write a book report for this nonfiction piece. They should include their opinions with support from the novel to back it up.

Movie Trailor

"Rising Tide" is being made into a movie. The students should decide what actors would portray the roles of the politicians in this piece of history. They should also describe how they would change the story to make it more "Hollywood".
