• This book was written from the first-person perspective and in the past tense. Part I is titled "I Am The Gulf Between English and Spanish." Chapter 1 is titled "A Multilingual Block in West Philly."

• In Chapter 1, Hudes was a young child and her parents were moving from their block in West Philadelphia to a horse farm in Malvern, PA.
