Chapter 1 and 2 introduces the main character as a boy with a normal beginning until he is three years old when his parents are killed in a car crash. Then some strange events happen with his aunt and uncle and he ends up running away. From there, the boy's life becomes a myth; because of this, the novel involves magical realism. The objective of this lesson is to explore the element of the magical realism genre in Maniac Magee.
