Objective

The city has been continuously inhabited for thousands of years, and this particular historical moment shaped the capital, the country, and the culture as well as playing an important role in this novel. This lesson will explore the importance of the setting.

1) Group of partner discussion: Analyze the text for clues about the conquest of the Aztecs. Who were the Aztecs? What information is available in the chapter? Don't overlook the introductory poem. Who led the Spanish? What decisions did the Spanish make? How did they rebuild the city? Where were the most important buildings in the city? What did they do with the old constructions?
