Objective

The objective of this lesson is to examine the relationship between Lily and Ryle, and why they divorced. Lily divorced Ryle after their daughter was born. They signed the divorce papers the same day they signed the birth certificate.

Class Discussion: How did Ryle treat Lily when they were married? What list does Lily have that reminds her of the abuse she suffered? How does sharing custody require that they still have ties to one another? Does Lily still feel anything for Ryle? Has his behavior changed since they have been divorced? Does she believe that he might become violent again? Why is she considering what his reaction will be when she thinks of reuniting with Atlas? Why is she afraid to think of herself? How would you describe the relationship between Lily and Ryle?
