Essay Topics

Write an essay for ONE of the following topics:

Essay Topic 1

What is the Invisible Museum? And What is the Book of Truth? Why do we find out what one is the beginning, while the other is revealed at the very end? What does this say about each character and their development? Write at least three pages with four examples from the novel.

Essay Topic 2

At the end of the novel, Guillermo tells Jude that Noah is the “ecstatic impulse” (368). What is the ecstatic impulse? Develop a definition through five different examples in the novel even if these use are not exactly used in that parts of the text. How is this impulse connected to both art and life?

Essay Topic 3

Grandma Sweetwine says, “A broken heart is an open heart” (212). Look at one character in the novel and examine their story arc. How is this saying true for them? In other words, how is their heart broken, and how does this broken-ness connect to being able to be open? What are they open to? Write three pages with at least four textual examples.
