Essay Topic 1
Destiny and fate are interwoven throughout the novel with prophecies, Ouija board predictions, intuition, and superstitions. Look at the end passage where Guillermo speaks to Jude about her mother breaking her bowls for so they could potentially meet (369). How is this philosophy of the novel shown in one character’s interaction with the world around them? Write at least four pages with at least three supporting details in addition to this passage.
